The Trade Policy team are proud to share the New Zealand Customs led Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) publication titled, “Assessment Report: APEC Customs Capacity Building for Improved Trade Facilitation”.

Project Lead and Policy Analyst at Customs, Shisla Macleod says, “This publication creates an up-to-date picture of the implementation status of the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), what economies’ priorities are for reaching implementation, and identifies what assistance is available to help economies to reach their TFA implementation goals.”

The TFA is a World Trade Organization agreement and sets standards to simplify, modernise and harmonise export and import processes.

“The survey used to create this report received the input of 20 out of 21 APEC economies, which is an outstanding number! This really shows the eagerness of the economies to collaborate and accelerate the implementation of the TFA. There are many lessons to be learned from the report, and we hope it will be of use not only within APEC, but also domestically and in other international organisations.”
